At this point, Denelle came down with a bad cold, but was determined to fight it like a trooper. Ok, this was not just a bad cold. It was a raw sore throat with ear pain that didn't respond to over-the-counter remedies. Denelle eventually went to the ship's doctor (which is not included in the cruise fee) and got prescribed some antibiotics and some wonderful pain medicine. We could tell he was not with an HMO because we got to see him in 15 minutes, instead of 15 months.

Our next stop was Grand Cayman island, where the plan for the day was . . . scuba! On our first dive, we went down about 45 feet. We saw a turtle and a very large moray eel swimming far below. Unfortunately, Jeff forgot to turn his underwater camera on, so you'll just have to take our word for it. On the next dive Denelle attempted to go down but was only able to go 15 feet before her right ear would not clear and was causing severe pain so she had to go back on the boat. Jeff did remember to turn on my camera this time, so you can see the photos here. While getting out of my BCD (scuba vest) after the second dive, Jeff's wedding ring came off and dropped in the water. He didn't notice it until we were on shore, and a call to the dive company with a search of the boat didn't turn it up. Needless to say, Denelle made me sleep in the hallway outside the cabin for the rest of the trip. Just kidding! She was very supportive. I purchased a cheap silver band at the next stop to get me through the rest of the trip.

The Mayan ruins at San Gervasio, Cozumel

The next day we arrived at Cozumel. We went to the San Gervasio ruins and learned about the Mayan culture and their accomplishments. Then Jeff went off to scuba while Denelle went on a snorkeling/beach excursion (boring in comparison). I explored a shipwreck at 80 feet and took lots of pictures. Found out my scuba camera let oodles of water in and ruined the film and the camera. Bummin'!
